Even though this role earned the actress great attention however, she felt that the image of Mary Camden being a nice girl would restrict her acting abilities. In the Gear magazine cover Jessica was dressed in a bikini in an attempt to defy the stereotype. Jessica's behavior caused a lot of controversy with her fans. Following her appearance on the sixth season of 7th Heaven, Jessica left. The movie Ulee's Gold and her outstanding performance in it as teenager Casey Jackson brought instant fame to her. The film even awarded her the title of best supporting young actress award for this film. Summer Catch, her comedy film, shows off her impressive acting talents. Her movie Rules of Attraction did not have much success despite her amazing performance. Later her acting in the horror movie The Texas Chainshaw Massacre caught people's attention. Also, she has worked in thrillers and suspense movies.
